Juvederm

Juvederm is a dermal filler formulated to fill in facial lines and wrinkles. This injectable treatment contains hyaluronic acid (HA), which is found naturally in the skin, where it adds volume by attracting water molecules. Over time, the body's own ability to produce hyaluronic acid is diminished; Juvederm injections counteract the aging process by increasing the amount of HA, restoring the structure and volume of the skin.

Is Juvederm right for me?

Most Juvederm patients in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area are seeking treatment because they have begun to notice facial wrinkles. Many different types of facial creases can be treated with this product, including frown lines, horizontal forehead creases, and smile lines. This treatment may also be used to enhance facial volume in areas such as the cheeks or lips. Most adults who are in good overall health can receive Juvederm injections.

How much does Juvederm cost?

The cost of dermal filler injections varies from around $300 to $800 depending on the facial area being treated, the volume of gel needed to achieve the desired effect, and other factors. Many patients in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area opt for dermal filler injections because of their low cost when compared with more invasive cosmetic treatments such as brow lifts or facelift surgery.

How involved is the Juvederm procedure?

The injection process takes less than an hour in the doctor's office, making it a popular “lunchtime procedure” for those who are looking for a quick improvement in their appearance. A topical numbing cream can be used, though the injections are virtually pain-free. The Juvederm gel is injected through a thin needle into targeted areas of the face. The injected gel increases the volume of tissue lying directly underneath the skin, filling in the wrinkles from inside the body. This injected product also attracts water, creating further reductions in wrinkles even as the Juvederm itself is absorbed by the body.  Unlike most practices you do not see a PA, Dr. Kapp performs all Juvederm injections himself.

How long is the recovery after Juvederm?

This treatment requires no downtime. Patients in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area are typically able to resume their daily routine immediately. There may be slight redness or bruising, though this can be camouflaged with makeup. No bandages or healing time are required. Some results will be visible immediately; the treated skin will continue to improve in appearance over several weeks as the injected hyaluronic acid draws moisture into the skin. Results usually last between six and twelve months.
