Botox

Botox is an injectable product that causes facial muscles to relax, smoothing the wrinkles caused by overactive muscles. This technique is used to reduce facial lines and wrinkles such as frown lines and forehead creases. The results of the injection usually last about six months. Unlike most practices, Dr. Kapp performs all Botox injections himself.

Is Botox right for me?

Most patients who opt for Botox injections have started to see signs of aging, especially wrinkles, in their facial appearance. This treatment is effective for lines and wrinkles caused by movement of facial muscles, such as frown lines or smile lines, but will not affect those caused by sun exposure or gravity. Many patients opt for muscle relaxant injections instead of more invasive surgeries such as facelifts, or to “try out” the results of cosmetic enhancement before opting for a permanent procedure. Most adults in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area who are in good overall health are medically able to receive Botox injections.

How much does Botox cost?

Botox treatments in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area average between $300 and $500 per visit. The cost of injections depends on the amount of Botox product needed to achieve the desired results. This in turn, depends on the severity of the wrinkles as well as the size of the targeted treatment area.

How involved is the Botox procedure?

West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens patients can have their Botox injections administered in the doctor's office and that the entire process takes less than one hour. This minimally-invasive technique does not require anesthesia. Injections of a small amount of Botox – a purified and diluted version of the botulism toxin – are delivered via a fine needle into the facial muscle causing the wrinkle. By blocking signals from the nerves to the muscle, Botox causes the muscle to relax, smoothing the wrinkle.

How long is the recovery after Botox?

Botox is often considered to be a “lunchtime treatment” because there is little to no recovery time. Most patients are able to return to their daily routine immediately, taking no more than a couple of hours away from work. You may experience temporary bruising or headaches for a day or two, but no bandages are required. Patients receiving Botox are advised not to lay down for 3-4 hours, or rub the affected area for 12 hours. West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens patients usually find that the results of Botox injections remain visible for about four to six months.
